About:
Faviola Leyva | Co-Founder
Joel Serin-Christ | Co-Founder
Faviola Leyva and Joel Serin-Christ are filmmakers with backgrounds in documentary film, video journalism, and education. In 2017 they founded the multimedia and documentary film division of Teach For America’s alumni magazine. Together they produced award-winning films and video stories that informed and inspired the movement for educational equity.
In 2023, Faviola and Joel launched Collective Focus Films. Our mission is to make impact-driven documentary films and branded video for organizations whose work moves us toward a more just, equitable, and sustainable future.
Faviola and Joel’s films have been screened at film festivals nationally and internationally and have appeared on National Geographic and PBS. They’ve worked with organizations across the country to tell inspiring stories of impact, including PBS Hawaii, KIPP Schools, The Nashville Civic Design Center and Da Vinci Schools, among others.
